Cycladic II (square)
01-May-2014
Like its cerulean cousin, Cycladic II (square) is peaceful and rhythmic, the western reading from left to right is slightly interfered with by the tonally arrhythmic yellow bands.
The bands of paint are the same width as the timber support creating a plan - object relationship, the shadows cast further complicate a clear understanding of a singular image, which is already unstable due to being a type of triptych.
The negative spaces between the three panels are internally square, in Cerulean I the panels are square.
